Our standards
Everything published on DennoDojo is written to help readers make better decisions. We aim to be accurate, fair and transparent about how we reach our conclusions.
How we evaluate products
- Games are played to completion, or for at least twenty hours for longer titles, before we publish a scored review.
- Anime and TV reviews cover a complete season. First-episode impressions are always labelled as such.
- Films are reviewed after a full screening, never from trailers or clips.
- Beauty devices and skin care are tested for at least four weeks by a panel covering different skin and hair types.
- Hardware and wellness gadgets go through standardised battery, comfort and durability tests plus at least two weeks of everyday use.
How we score
Reviews are scored out of 10, in steps of 0.1. Scores reflect how well a product does its job for the people it is meant for, relative to its price and competitors at the time of review.
- 9.0 and above: exceptional. A category leader we recommend without hesitation.
- 8.0 to 8.9: excellent, with minor drawbacks.
- 7.0 to 7.9: good, but with clear compromises.
- 5.0 to 6.9: mixed. Worth it only in specific situations.
- Below 5.0: not recommended.
Best-of lists and comparisons
Our weekly and monthly lists and head-to-head comparisons are built from our own testing. Products are chosen on quality, value and variety. Placement can never be bought.
Independence and review units
We buy many of the products we test. When a manufacturer loans or provides a product, it has no say over our coverage and does not see articles before publication. Loaned products are returned or donated after testing.
