Smart rings are getting a meaningful upgrade this autumn. Three of the category’s best-known makers have announced firmware updates that add nightly skin-temperature trends, while two new models claim seven days of battery life, nearly double what most rings manage today.

Rather than showing a single number, the updates chart how your skin temperature during sleep changes relative to your personal baseline. Deviations can reflect changes in routine, travel, training load or the onset of a cold. Makers are careful to present the feature as a wellness insight rather than a medical measurement.

Battery life is finally improving

Battery has been the category’s biggest complaint. The two new rings use more efficient sensors and a redesigned charging dock. We will verify those claims in our own testing.

  • Updates roll out over the next four weeks.
  • No subscription is required for the temperature feature on two of the three platforms.
  • New models ship in late October.
